Default What artwork is everyone creating atm?

What artwork are you creating atm?

Even if you just have some idea, or even the shadow of an idea, and you want some input, I'd be happy to oblige..

:)

Wow that's really beautiful inkgal :)
How big is it btw?

My first impressions..
I like the way the boat caught my attention, and then my eye went straight to the reflections in the water, the far shore, especially the trees, and then off into the mountains. I really like the composition. The shadows seem just right.

The only thing that my eye kept moving to (and I kept pulling it away to look at the other wonderful plants and bushes) was the little earth and rock outcrop to the left behind the boat. But that's not important especially if the scene is one from life and actually has that bare little contrast.

I like the colours, and the way you haven't dulled down any of the brillaint detail in this scene because it really works with all that's happening in the earth, water, distance and sky.

It's kind of busy AND calm so maybe that little bare outcrop does work as a contrast after all..

Not silly at all - lovely.

I'll look at it a while longer and add anything I think of.

Hi Inkgal, I really love where the water meets the edge, it has nice depth.

Hi Helm :)
Well they both look great.
Viking:
I don't think he looks deformed. Do you mean his right shoulder? If so, he looks as though he is inspecting his sword and his right elbow would move slightly back and shoulder might seem to move closer to his body. I think thats OK really. Maye fluff out his coat a bit on that side a bit..Also, just a suggestion: the background a little darker and a those strategically placed highlights a little bit brighter..

Viking Boat:
Maybe some sea spray and a bit more choppiness to the sea in general as it looks a bit that way to me..Oh and the boat seems just a bit too grey maybe..

oh I forgot..me? well, since leaving CG alone after 10 years and moving back to real world artwork I have been busy painting in acrylics and becoming more and more interested in oil pastels.

I have done several 1.2x1.2 metre abstracts, a slightly smaller abstract landscape. Many pastel sketches and large pastel paintings.

At present I am working on a very striking 750 x 650mm oil pastel abstract about 'gestation'. A deep violet background, tan and brown 'womb' like structure, around tan/pink 'foetus' like shape floating in a slightly lighter violet.

Still no camera sorry, though when i get one I'll have too much to show lol

hehe

Anyhoo I love the paintings and artwork on this site. You're all a really talented bunch. And I have learnt alot since getting back to getting back to tactile art.

Im working on paintings for my first solo exhibition on show in November. Very challenging to find the time (baby and work), get motivated (related to having a good block of time to paint) and being able to paint when I feel creative. Unfortunately some times I have to push myself late at night when all I want to do is sleep.

But anywho, back to the Q. It is a series of scapes, about 10 is my aim ranging from small/medium to large. So far two are like 99% complete. One is possibly 95% complete. One diptych is in the works about 30-50% complete, two canvases are gessoed and ready to go. Just unsure of the image. It is to be right in my head first.

I'm working on more motion landscapes - Queensland roadside images. Doing a bunch in watercolour and gouache on paper and deciding which ones to translate to oils on canvas. Trying to retain some of the watercolour qualities in the finished oils.

Am working on a few shows, all later this year, and paintings are mostly 91cm x 122cm to 122cm x 152cm...and perhaps some a bit bigger.

Whether you are on facebook or not you can peek at some of the images on my facebook page here http://www.facebook.com/AmandavanGilsArtist (sorry couldn't be bothered duplicating by uploading and attaching)
